‏ Mark 15:40-41

v. 40–41: Some women who were followers of Jesus watched from a distance (Mark 15:40-41 a). The men were too afraid to come close because of the angry crowd, but the women stayed to see what happened to Jesus. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger, and Salome. These women had followed Jesus from Galilee and had hoped for great things, but now they saw him die on a cross instead of becoming king. This reminds us that following Jesus does not always bring the success we expect in this world, but it is still worth it.
