Mark 4:21
The Gradual Advance of the Gospel. In this section, Jesus uses parables to teach important lessons about the gospel and its impact. He explains that those who receive God’s gifts are responsible for sharing them with others. He also describes how the gospel grows gradually, both in the world and in individual hearts, producing great results over time. These teachings encourage us to be faithful in hearing, sharing, and living out God’s word.v. 21-22: Jesus said, “Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a candlestick?” (Mark 4:21 a). A candle is meant to give light, not to be hidden. In the same way, God’s gifts and the gospel are meant to be shared, not kept to ourselves. Jesus explained that nothing hidden will remain hidden; the truth of the gospel is meant to be revealed to the world (Proverbs 20:27 b).
