‏ Matthew 22:31-32

v. 31–32: Jesus continues by reminding them of what God said to Moses at the burning bush: “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (Exodus 3:6 a). Jesus points out that God said “I am,” not “I was.” This means that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are still alive to God, even though they died long ago. God is “not the God of the dead, but of the living,” proving that God’s people will live again, and that there is truly a resurrection (Matthew 22:31-32 b).
