‏ Nehemiah 2:3

v. 3: Nehemiah was afraid to answer, but he spoke respectfully to the king, saying, “Let the king live forever!” He explained that he was sad because “the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire” . Nehemiah’s grief was real and had a good reason. He cared deeply about his ancestors and the city of God. The troubles of the church should make us sad too (Psalm 102:14 a).
