Numbers 14:2
v. 2-3: The people began to murmur against Moses and Aaron, which was ultimately a complaint against God. They foolishly wished they had died in Egypt or in the wilderness. Their fear led them to imagine the worst outcome, assuming they would die by the sword if they entered Canaan. They even blamed God for bringing them to this point, accusing Him of leading them to ruin and making their children prey for the Canaanites. This was a wicked and blasphemous accusation, as if God, who is full of love and truth, had been deceitful and cruel (Jer. 29:11; Num. 14:2–3 a).
