This was a sign of God’s friendship and approval. When God gives us grace to listen to and accept His word, it is a sign that He accepts our prayers and worship. Some believe that this way of God speaking to Moses points forward to Jesus, the Son of God, coming in human form so we could understand God’s message (Ps. ciii. 7; Heb. vi. 10 ).
