‏ Philippians 1:6

v. 6: Paul is confident that God, who began a good work in the Philippians, will continue and finish it until the day Jesus Christ returns (Philippians 1:6 a). The “good work” means God’s work of changing them to be more like Him. Only God can start this work, because we are naturally “dead in trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1; Colossians 2:13 b). God’s work in us is not finished in this life, but Paul trusts that God will complete it perfectly when Jesus comes again. This gives Christians hope and reason to thank God, not only for what He has done, but also for what He promises to do in the future.
