v. 9: Because Jesus humbled himself, God exalted him to the highest place. Jesus received a name above every name, meaning the highest honor and authority (John 17:5 ^b).

v. 10: At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow—in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. This shows Jesus’ universal authority over all creation (Matthew 28:18 ^c).

v. 11: Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, bringing glory to God the Father (John 5:23; Matthew 10:40 ^d). Honoring Jesus is also honoring the Father, because it is God’s will that all should worship His Son.
