Proverbs 16:15
v. 15: When someone who has angered the king receives his favor again, it feels like coming back to life. The king’s favor is as refreshing as the "latter rain" that brings new life to the land. Solomon reminded his people that they should do nothing to make the king angry but should try to please him. This also teaches us to value God’s favor above all else. His anger is worse than death, and His favor is better than life. We should never sin just to avoid making people angry, because God’s favor is what matters most.Pride and HumilityThis next section is about the value of wisdom compared to wealth. Solomon teaches that wisdom is far better than gold or silver. Wisdom, or grace, is God’s special gift and brings more happiness than any treasure. Wealth is temporary and only helps for a short time, but wisdom helps us forever. Many people work hard to get rich but are never satisfied, while those who truly seek wisdom from God always find joy and peace. As the Bible says, How much better to get wisdom than gold! (Proverbs 3:14; Proverbs 8:19 a).
