Proverbs 21:13
The Danger of Ignoring the PoorThis verse warns us about the serious consequences of being unkind and uncharitable. If someone refuses to listen to the cries of people in need, and does not show compassion, they are closing their heart to others. This lack of mercy is a serious fault, and it will lead to trouble for that person in the future.v. 13: The Bible says, Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard . If a person ignores the needs and requests of the poor, refusing to help or even listen, one day they may find themselves in trouble and needing help. When they cry out, others will not listen to them, and even God will not answer their prayers. As it is written, he shall have judgment without mercy, that has showed no mercy (James 2:13 a). God expects us to be merciful, and if we are deaf to the cries of the poor, our own cries may also be ignored (Exodus 22:23 b).
