Proverbs 8:22
Wisdom Eternal and Divine. In this passage, Solomon speaks of wisdom as a living, divine person. Christians understand this as pointing to Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is called “the Word” in the New Testament (John 1:1-4 a). These verses show that Christ is both eternal and involved in God’s plan for the world. He was with God before creation, and He took great joy in His Father and in humanity. This wisdom is not just a quality, but a person who loves, creates, and saves.v. 22: Wisdom says, “The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old” . This means that Christ, God’s Son, existed before anything was created. He was with God from the very start, even before the world began (Hebrews 1:3 b).
