He made a serious promise to obey God’s commands. He knows he cannot go back on his word. It is good to make a strong promise to follow God, just like people swear loyalty to a king. We should remember the promises we make to God and do our best to keep them. God’s commands are always right, and keeping them is our duty. If we do not keep our promises, we only hurt ourselves.
