Psalms 122:8-9
v. 8–9: David promises to be a true friend to Jerusalem. He says, For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good (Psalm 122:8-9 a). David’s prayers are not just for his own sake, but for all who love and worship God. He wants to see blessings for others who gather to worship, and he is committed to helping the city however he can. His love for God’s house and God’s people motivates him to pray and work for their good (1 Chronicles 28:2; 1 Chronicles 29:3 b).
