‏ Psalms 29:3-9

v. 3: David describes God’s power: The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. Thunder and lightning show God’s greatness. When we hear them, we should remember God’s glory and honor Him with awe and respect.

v. 4: He says, The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. God’s voice is more powerful than anything in nature. The sound of thunder reminds us how great and mighty God is.

v. 5-6: The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn(Psalm 29:5-6 a). God’s power can break even the strongest trees and shake the mountains. Nature itself trembles before Him.

v. 7: The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire. Lightning, with its bright and dangerous energy, is under God’s control. He sends it where He wants.

v. 8: The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. Even the empty, wild places are shaken by God’s power. There is nowhere His voice cannot reach.

v. 9: The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. God’s voice affects even the animals and reveals what is hidden in the forests. In God’s house, His people talk about His greatness and praise Him for His mighty works.
