Psalms 31:17-18
v. 17–18: David prays that he would not be ashamed for trusting in God, and that his enemies, who spread lies and insults, would be silenced. He says, Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous (Psalm 31:17–18 a). David trusts that God will one day silence those who use lies and pride to hurt God’s people (Jude 1:14–15; 1 Peter 2:15 b). –
