Romans 15:22
Paul’s Plans for Future Ministry In this section, Paul explains why he has not yet visited the Christians in Rome. He shares his desire to see them, his plans to travel to Spain, and his intention to stop in Rome on the way. Paul also mentions his present mission of bringing financial help to believers in Jerusalem. Through this, he shows his commitment both to preaching the gospel where Christ is not yet known and to serving the needs of the church. Paul’s plans are made with humility, seeking God’s will in all things. v. 22: Paul writes, “For this reason I also have been much hindered from coming to you” (Romans 15:22 a). He explains that his work preaching the gospel in other places has kept him from visiting the Christians in Rome so far. He wanted to go, but his calling to share Christ with people who had never heard about him took priority.
