Romans 2:1
God's Righteous Judgment This section discusses how everyone is accountable before God, not just those who do obvious wrong. Paul teaches that all people are judged by the same standard. It is not enough to point out the faults of others—we must look honestly at ourselves. God judges fairly, according to truth, and no one escapes his judgment simply by being religious or having a certain background. v. 1: Paul tells his readers, “Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things” (Romans 2:1 a). This means that if we judge others for their sins, but do the same kinds of things ourselves, we are condemning ourselves. God will not accept hypocrisy. Judging others does not excuse us from our own sin.
