v. 7: There were also others, called their brethren, who were trained and skilled in the songs of the Lord . There were 288 experts, a good number to lead worship in the temple. Though there were 4,000 Levites set to praise God (1 Chronicles 23:5 ^b), only a small group led at the temple at one time. The rest likely served in groups throughout the country, so God’s praise could be sung everywhere, as Paul says, I want men everywhere to pray(1 Timothy 2:8 ^c).
