‏ 1 Kings 8:15

v. 15–21: Solomon explained the meaning of the temple. He thanked God for keeping His promise to David: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David and has fulfilled it with his hand (1 Kings 8:15 a). Solomon reminded the people that God had not chosen any other city or person but had chosen David and now his son to build a house for His name (1 Kings 8:16–17 b). God praised David’s desire to build the temple, even though He let Solomon do the work (1 Kings 8:18–19 c). Solomon declared that he had built the temple for the Lord and placed the ark there, just as God had said (1 Kings 8:20–21 d). All the glory and rights of the temple belonged to God, not Solomon.
