‏ 1 Samuel 17:26

v. 26–27, 30: David asked about the reward for defeating Goliath. He was not interested in the prize but wanted people to see how wrong it was for this uncircumcised Philistine to insult the armies of the living God (1 Samuel 17:26 a). David’s concern was for God’s honor. He asked others the same question so that word would reach Saul. David was angry because (1) Goliath was not part of God’s covenant, and (2) he insulted God’s people, which was an insult to God himself.
