1 Samuel 26:9
v. 9-11: David refused to let Abishai harm Saul. He said Saul was the Lord’s anointed king, chosen by God, and it would be sinful to kill him (Romans 13:2 a). David trusted God to punish Saul in His own time, as He had done with Nabal. David declared, “The Lord forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against the Lord’s anointed” (1 Samuel 26:11 b). He preferred to obey God rather than take advantage of Saul’s weakness.
