2 Kings 23:34-35
v. 34-35: Pharaoh Necho replaced Jehoahaz with his brother Eliakim, renaming him Jehoiakim. This change of name symbolized Egypt’s control over Judah. Pharaoh also imposed a heavy tribute on Judah—100 talents of silver and one talent of gold. Jehoiakim raised this money by taxing the people, further burdening the nation (2 Kings 23:34-35 a). –
