Elisha then called her again and promised her, " About this time next year, you shall embrace a son " (2 Kings 4:14-16 ). She was shocked and humbly asked Elisha not to get her hopes up unless it was truly God’s promise. This was a great blessing, as having no children was a source of deep sadness in that culture.
