‏ 2 Samuel 21:3-4

v. 3-4: Many years later, during David’s reign, a famine lasted for three years. David asked God why this was happening. God revealed it was because of Saul’s sin against the Gibeonites. David then asked the Gibeonites what could be done to make things right. They asked for seven of Saul’s descendants to be handed over to them for punishment. They did not want silver or gold, only justice for the blood that was shed (2 Samuel 21:3-4 a). This shows that some sins have long-lasting consequences, and God’s justice can reach even the next generations.
