‏ Acts 26:16-17

v. 16–18: Jesus told Paul to stand up, because he was appearing to him for a purpose—to appoint him as a servant and witness to what he had seen and what Jesus would show him in the future. Jesus promised to protect Paul from his own people (the Jews) and from the Gentiles, and then sent him to them. Paul was sent to open their eyes, turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they might receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are made holy by faith in Jesus (Acts 26:18 a).
