‏ Colossians 2:14

v. 14: Through Christ, all our sins are forgiven. Paul says, having forgiven you all trespasses (Colossians 2:13 a). Our forgiveness is possible because Jesus died and rose again for us, as it is written, He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification (Romans 4:25 b).

Paul explains that anything that stood against us, like a record of our sins or the old rules, was taken away by Jesus. He calls this the hand-writing of ordinances, which was against us (Colossians 2:14 c). Jesus removed the curse of the law by dying on the cross (Galatians 3:13 d). He also ended the old ceremonial laws that separated Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 2:15 e). When Jesus died, it was as if all the things that accused us were nailed to the cross and cancelled forever.
