Exodus 13:13
v. 13: The firstborn of animals that were not used for sacrifices, like donkeys, had to be redeemed by offering a lamb instead. If the owner did not redeem the animal, it had to be killed. The firstborn sons also had to be redeemed, not sacrificed. This showed that life was valuable and belonged to God, but people should not offer human sacrifices. Instead, they paid a price set by God to redeem their children (Numbers 18:16).
