Ezekiel 18:25-29
v. 25–29: Some people complain that God’s way is not fair, saying, The way of the Lord is not equal. But God responds by pointing out that His ways are fair and just, while it is their ways that are unfair. God judges everyone according to their own actions: if someone does evil, they will die for it; if someone repents and does right, they will live (Ezekiel 18:25-29 a). God’s justice is perfect, and He always does what is right. He emphasizes that each person is responsible for their own choices and that His judgments are based on their actions, not on favoritism or unfairness (Ezekiel 18:25; Ezekiel 18:29 b). This shows that God gives everyone the opportunity to change and be saved, and His fairness is beyond question. v. 26-28: God repeats the principle that each person is judged by their own actions. If a righteous person turns to sin, they will die for their sins. But if a wicked person repents and turns to righteousness, they will live. Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die (Ezekiel 18:28 c). This demonstrates God’s mercy and His willingness to forgive anyone who repents. It also highlights the importance of personal responsibility and the opportunity for redemption. – – –
