v. 1: The word of the Lord comes to Ezekiel again. God tells him to confront Jerusalem about her bloody and sinful behavior. The city is called “the bloody city” because of the violence, injustice, and bloodshed happening there (Ezekiel 22:1-2 ^a).

v. 2: God asks Ezekiel, “Will you judge the city of blood?” He is to make the people know all the terrible things they have done. Jerusalem is guilty of killing innocent people, worshipping idols, and breaking God’s commands. Ezekiel must show them their sins clearly and warn them of the consequences.
