Galatians 5:1
Freedom in Christ In this section, Paul urges the Galatians to hold on to the freedom Christ has given them and not to return to the bondage of the law. He warns against the teachings of those who insist on obeying the Jewish law, especially circumcision, as necessary for salvation. Paul explains that faith in Christ is the only way to be justified before God, and that Christians are called to live by the Spirit, not by the old law. v. 1: Paul tells the Galatians to stand firm in their freedom. Christ has set believers free from the law’s requirements, so they should not let themselves be tied up again in a "yoke of bondage"—that is, the burden of the old Jewish law (Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage; Galatians 5:1 a).
