Genesis 11:9
v. 9: The city was called Babel, which means “confusion,” because there the Lord confused the language of the people and scattered them everywhere (v. 9 a). This event left a lasting reminder of human pride and God’s power. In the end, people will only be fully united again when Christ returns and gathers all nations before Him (ch. x. 5, 20, 31; Jer. xliv. 28 b; ch. xlix. 5, 7; Ps. 83.3-13; Matt. xxv. 31, 32 c).
