God would treat people as they treated Abram, making Abram’s friends His friends, and Abram’s enemies His enemies (Num. xxiv. 9; Ps.38.13-15 ). The greatest promise is that all the families of the earth would be blessed through Abram. This promise points to Jesus Christ, who would come from Abram’s family and be the greatest blessing to the world (Luke xix. 9; Acts iv. 12 ; Jude 3; Matt. xii. 50 ).
