Genesis 15:7
Genesis 15:7–11: God Assures Abram of the Land In these verses, God promises Abram that he will inherit the land of Canaan. Abram asks God for a sign to confirm this promise. God responds by telling Abram to prepare a special sacrifice. Abram obeys, and as he waits, he must protect the sacrifice from birds. This passage teaches us that God’s promises are sure, but sometimes our faith needs to be strengthened, and God gives us ways to help us believe (Jer. 34:18–19 a).v. 7: God reminds Abram that He is the Lord who brought him out of Ur of the Chaldees to give him this land. God points to his past actions as proof that He can be trusted. If God has saved us before, we can trust Him for the future (Isa. 51:2; Isa. 29:22 b).
