Genesis 4:12
v. 12: Cain’s punishment is that the ground will not give him crops, no matter how hard he works. He will also be a restless wanderer, unable to settle or find peace. This means Cain will always live with guilt and shame, rejected by others and uncomfortable in himself. Even in this, God shows mercy by not killing Cain immediately but giving him a chance to repent.
