Genesis 4:4
v. 4: God accepted Abel and his offering. Abel brought the first and best of his flock—a sign that he wanted to give God the best. According to Hebrews 11:4 a, Abel’s sacrifice was better than Cain’s. This could be because Abel offered a blood sacrifice, which pointed to the need for forgiveness, or because he chose the very best for God. God is pleased when we give him our best and worship with faith and obedience. Abel’s heart was right with God, so his offering was accepted (Matt. 23:35; Ps. 11:7 b; Prov. 15:8 c).
