Genesis 46:32-34
v. 32-34: Joseph explains to his brothers that they should tell Pharaoh they are shepherds who have always cared for livestock. He wants them to live in Goshen, separate from the Egyptians, because shepherds were looked down on in Egypt (v. 32-34 a). Joseph could have given them important jobs, but he chooses what is best for their safety and faith. This teaches us that honest work is honorable and that it’s often wise to continue in the work we know best (1 Corinthians 7:24 b).
