‏ Hebrews 12:9

v. 9-10: The writer compares God’s discipline to that of human parents: “Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence. Shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?” (Hebrews 12:9 a). Earthly parents discipline us for a short time, often as they think best. But God’s discipline is always for our good, so that we may share in His holiness (Hebrews 12:10 b).
