All of this comes as a result of God’s mercy and not because anyone deserves it. v. 4 : God promises, “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them” . When people repent and turn to God, He will not reject them. Instead, He will forgive their sins and love them without limit. God’s anger is not permanent; He is willing to forgive those who leave their sinful ways. This is the foundation for all the good things He wants to give His people (Isaiah 12:1 ).
