Isaiah 5:7
v. 7: God explains the meaning of the parable. The vineyard is the people of Israel, and the pleasant plants are the people of Judah. God looked for justice and righteousness from them, but instead, he found violence and cries of those being hurt. This was very sad because God had given them everything they needed to do what is right (Deuteronomy 4:8 a). When people act badly instead of living with love and kindness, they disappoint God. Some people say this also points to the time when Jesus came, and the people rejected him, shouting, “Crucify him, crucify him.” (Luke 23:21 b).
