James 2:21-22
v. 21–24: James gives the example of Abraham: “Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see how faith worked together with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?” (James 2:21-22 a). Abraham believed God, but he also obeyed and acted on his faith. Because of this, “he was called the friend of God.” (James 2:23 b). This shows that faith and works must go together. “You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” (James 2:24 c). –
