Indeed, the light of the wicked is put out, and the flame of his fire does not shine. The light is dark in his tent, and his lamp above him is put out (Job 18:5-6 ). The wicked might enjoy some happiness or success for a while, but it does not last. Their joy is like a candle that is quickly blown out (Isaiah 50:11 ), and when they die, all their hopes are gone (Proverbs 11:7 ).
