‏ John 16:4

v. 4: Jesus says, But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them (John 16:4 a). He wants his disciples to remember his words when the hard times come, so they will not be surprised or discouraged. Jesus’ warnings prove he knows the future and is always faithful. When Christians suffer, they can remember that Jesus told them to expect it, and this can help them endure. Jesus did not warn them earlier because he was still with them and took the main attacks himself. But now, as he prepares to leave, they need to be ready for what will come next.
