John 7:50-51
v. 50: Nicodemus, who had previously visited Jesus by night, spoke up. He was a respected Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin. Nicodemus asked if their law judged a man before hearing him and knowing what he does (John 7:50-51; John 3:1-2 a). He reminded them of the need for fairness and justice. v. 51: Nicodemus said, “Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?” He argued that they should not condemn Jesus without a fair hearing. This shows Nicodemus’s courage to speak up for what is right, even when he was outnumbered (Deuteronomy 1:16-17 b).
