‏ Judges 12:5-6

v. 5–6: The Gileadites blocked the crossings of the Jordan River to stop the Ephraimites from escaping. To identify the Ephraimites, they made each man say the word Shibboleth. Ephraimites could not pronounce it correctly and said Sibboleth instead, so they were discovered and killed. In total, 42,000 Ephraimites died in this way (Judges 12:5-6 a). This shows how pride and careless words can lead to great loss.
