The healed person had to wash his clothes, bathe, and shave off all hair ( v. 8 ). He had to wait another seven days outside the camp, then do the washing and shaving again ( v. 9 ). This showed that even after forgiveness, people should carefully remove all sinful habits from their lives. Anyone who hopes in God should work to stay pure (2 Corinthians 7:1; 1 John 3:3 ).
