Luke 19:11
The Nobleman and His Servants Jesus told this parable as he was approaching Jerusalem, just before his final Passover and crucifixion. Many of his followers expected that he would immediately set up God’s kingdom in a glorious and visible way. Jesus gave this story to correct their misunderstanding and to teach about the responsibilities of his disciples, the delay before his reign is fully revealed, and the judgment that would come on those who reject him. v. 11: The disciples and others thought that the kingdom of God was about to appear right away. They expected Jesus to become a powerful king in Jerusalem and to begin ruling with glory and power. But they misunderstood what kind of kingdom Jesus was bringing and when it would come in its fullness.
