Luke 23:25
v. 25: Pilate released Barabbas, the man guilty of rebellion and murder, because the people had asked for him. But he delivered Jesus to their will, knowing they hated Him and intended to kill Him cruelly (Luke 23:25 a). This exchange—Jesus, the righteous one, taking the place of a guilty man—symbolizes the heart of the gospel: Jesus suffered and died so that sinners could go free.
