They beat their chests and went home, troubled by what they had seen (Luke 23:48 ). Some of these people may have earlier shouted for Jesus to be crucified, but now they were afraid and sorry. However, their feelings did not last long, and they soon returned to their normal lives, forgetting what they had witnessed (James 1:24 ).
