The women were amazed and afraid as they hurried to share the good news. v. 1 : When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body (Mark 16:1 ). This was a sign of their love and respect for Jesus. Even though Nicodemus had already brought spices before (John 19:39 ), these women still wanted to do more for him. Their devotion shows that we should always honor Jesus, no matter what others have done before.
