Mark 6:3
v. 3: The people could not deny Jesus' wisdom or his miracles, but they still refused to believe in him. They tried to find reasons to reject him, saying, Is not this the Carpenter? They looked down on him because he had worked with his hands and had not studied with famous teachers. They also mentioned his family, saying, Is not this the son of Mary? and listed his brothers and sisters. Because they knew his background, they were offended and would not accept his teaching. This shows that people sometimes reject God's messengers for shallow reasons, like their job or family (Mark 6:3 a).
